The realization that life is uncertainty can be a source of stress and anxiety for students and adults. In this webinar we will review uncertainty in STEM fields, the human factor in data collection and analysis, and how we can use these in STEM classrooms to support students in STEM. We also will look at how navigating uncertainty supports students’ socio-emotional learning and mental health. We will share PreK-16 curricular resources from science, technology, and engineering that provide space for students to grapple with uncertainty and data. MOS’s Dr. Katie Bateman will be joined by Dr. Brandin Conrath of the Discourse and Teaching Lab at Penn State University, whose work focuses on students’ uncertainty in making sense of data visualizations.
